A delicious way to discover Bilbao
Bilbao Treasure Hunt
Bilbao is famous for it’s cuisine, and in particular the Basque style of tapas known as “pintxos” – discover the city the flavoursome way with our Bilbao Tapas Tour!
Challenging and fun
More than just a tapas tour, this activity combines the best of gourmet tapas with our unique treasure hunt style activity, helping you to discover the historical city of Bilbao whilst enjoying great tapas!
Enjoy the Tapas!
In Bilbao, ‘pintxos’ (Basque tapas) are a key part of the local food culture, typically enjoyed with wine or cider. These small bites, often served on bread, range from simple to gourmet and include popular options like ‘Gilda’ (olives, anchovies, peppers), ‘txangurro’ (stuffed crab), and ‘jamón ibérico’.
Patrons often bar-hop (known as ‘txikiteo’), sampling pintxos and drinks at multiple spots. The Casco Viejo (Old Town) is the prime areas for this experience.
What, where and when?
Each tapas tour tends to be tailor made – allowing your groups to start where and when you want to. We work together with you to decide the best route, the number of tapas stops you want to include, the budget you want to spend on tapas, and the best places for enjoying tapas in Bilbao.
Bars and restaurants don’t always appreciate large groups turning up and taking all of the tables, only to order 1 tapas each. They may not even have tables available. So we work with you as well as the tapas stops, to make sure that everyone is happy, and it all runs smoothly.
To make things easier, we split the group into teams, and each team receives an iPad that leads them around the city, taking them to see the different sites, asking them to do a few fun challenges, and enjoying the great tapas stops on the way.
Set in the Old Town of Bilbao, Spain
Casco Viejo (Old Town) is the oldest part of the city, with wonderful narrow streets and charming squares, offering a wealth of basque charm. Our old town treasure hunt incorporates Santiago Cathedral, Plaza de Santiago, Plaza Miguel de Unamuno, Plaza Unamuno, and the bustling Ribera Market, amongst others.
The Old Town was originally built around seven key streets, and is often referred to as
‘Las Siete Calles’ (The Seven Streets), including Somera, Tendería, Belostikale, Barrenkale and Barrenkale Barrena, which are amongst the oldest streets in Bilbao. Bursting with bars, boutiques, food vendors, artisans and a thriving street culture, this area is perfect for our bespoke Bilbao Treasure Hunt, which offers a variety of challenges and location-specific questions highlighting the Old Town’s rich history and vibrant atmosphere.
